Below is a review from The List Magazine Food & Drink Guide, the biggest, independent guide of this sort in Scotland.
"This Peking and Cantonese restaurant's name hints at a culinary experience that may well enthuse your senses - and it's certainly hard not to feel contented after a visit. Yumla.. focuses on providing a wide range of special menus to suit diverse dining needs. They include a Friday night buffet as well as generously portioned à la carte dishes with a seafood emphasis. Within the sophisticated, muted interiors, fast-moving staff flit between spacious private booths and free-standing tables. The food may come quickly, but there's no sacrifice in flavour. Spare ribs shine in a sticky, lemony coating, with the meat crunchy and well seasoned. Rice paper prawns are moist and delicate, accompanied by a spicy sweet dipping sauce. A sizzling platter of mixed seafood with ginger and spring onions takes two members of staff to transfer it to the table, but such theatre is justified for a dish weighed down with scallops (plump and juicy), king prawns and squid - all interspersed with wafer-thin slices of ginger. A bird's nest of crispy shredded chicken in a hot and sweet sauce presents a delicious variation on the Chinese classic, while the menu is also laden with Thai-influenced dishes."

"I write simply to say thanks for an excellent meal in your restaurant on Wednesday night. As a former senior police officer, I am only too well aware that people are never slow to write a letter of complaint but are never so keen to write a letter of appreciation. It would be remiss of me not to write and compliment your staff. The girls who served the meal were most helpful, attentive and very beautifully presented. Each one was a credit to your organisation and to themselves. The standard, quality and quantity if the meal was excellent and was testimony to the excellence of your chefs. Once again, many thanks for a superb dining experience. With kindest regards."

"Seemingly surounded by the results of the current wave of Chinese Buffet restaurants YUMLA is an island of elegancefor the discerning and dedicated Chinese Diner. The staff, all dressed in Cheong Sam, (a pleasure to the Ham Sap Chi among us) deal with your needs in a pleasant, cheerful manner. An extensive business lunch menu is available for those of us with little time to spare, however, ask for the a la carte menu if you wish to linger and enjoy Chinese Cuisine at it's, very nearly, best. Take your time, ponder, consult with "Madre d" and you'll be overwhelmed by the choice and quality of the food available. The restauant is open all afternoon so you don't have to throw the food down your neck to be out by 2pm. I will not, at this stage, go into the different choices available, I have not found a dish yet that I did not enjoy. Go along there next time you're in Glasgow, it's just off Argyle Street towards Ingram Street, and often stated, discard the KFC and get stuck in with chopsticks and rice bowl. Enjoy!"
